Here is the progression of the building from early summer 2006 to late fall 2006

First batch of papercrete

Papercrete is a mixture of mulched newspaper, water and portland cement. Soon after this photo we added sifted clay to the mix.

Draining the papercrete

The mixture is too wet to pour so we let the water drain off before adding clay and portland cement

dirt/clay sifting station

Each bucket of dirt is sifted through this screen to get out the larger rocks

Inside the trailer

We removed the paneling and insulation and poured papercrete into the areas between the studs

Here is a close-up of the papercrete inside the end rooms of the trailer

Office walls with papercrete

Finishing the walls with a papercrete "stucco"

finished stucco looks great!

This is before painting. The clay added to the papercrete makes a beautiful chocolate pudding color when wet

Front addition after roof is installed

The windows are in and the first framing installed before we really get down to serious pouring

1 foot thick papercrete poured into forms

The next day after the pour

Wall is 'set' enough to remove the form to speed up drying

Slow but steady progress

Greenhouse window in place

This is a window we made from turning sliding glass windows on their side. The frame is made from composite decking.

Front side addition is finished!

Well, at least it is enclosed. The floors are not finished except in the living room addition for the wood burning stove.
